Mercedes is an uncategorized Queer Latinx artist who works in installation, sound, and performance to create rituals of mourning. Mercedes melts down weapons and transforms them into sculptures and musical instruments. 

She also excavates missing invisible archives. She has exhibited and performed at the Bronx Museum, the Smithsonian, Queens Museum and the Kennedy Center.

She has been funded by Open Society Foundation, Light Works, The Foundation for Contemporary Art, NALAC, WPA, the DC Commission for the Arts, and more.
